Yoga and handicap
Since 1984 Kalpa Vriksha Satyananda has actively cooperated with social-therapeutic Centres, cooperatives hosting physical, mental or psychological disabled people spread on a range of age between 16 and 50 years old.
The results verified by the educationists who followed the Yoga activities have been more than positives. The benefits verified, in different manners for each subject, can be summed up in the following points:
- Restoration of the correct structure of the spine, toning up of muscles, improvement of the breathing capacity and of the sensory perceptions, removal of rigidity from joints, improvement of blood circulation.
- Increase of the awareness of one's own body, giving the handicapped person the benefit to feel to exist as a person and not as a body-object.
- Removal of energetic blocks caused by sedentariness, by disordered feeding and by tensions with clear reduction of hypereccitation, self-destructive behaviour, aggressiveness, lethargy and apathy.
- Acquirement of a relaxed psychophysical attitude that favours more tolerance, more stable behaviours, better cooperation and socialization in general.
- Development of the ability to express emotions and feelings; overcoming of fears and limitations.
